Rouyn-Noranda, – The Board of Directors of 48e Nord International, accompanied by team members, is proud to launch the festivities marking the 25th anniversary of the founding of the organization.

The letters patent of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue Export Promotion Office, 48th North International, were signed on February 24, 1998, by five entrepreneurs from the region: Ms. France Gagnon, Ms. Thérèse Vaillancourt, Mr. Laurent Bérubé, Mr. Mario Barrette and Mr. Guillaume Marquis, several of whom were present this evening:

“We must recognize the immense influence of the region over the past 25 years to promote its institutions and businesses and to market and export its services and products outside our borders.” – Mr. Alain Thivierge, First Director General, and International Commissioner of 48e Nord International, 1998-2005.

In exclusivity, a retrospective video from 1998-2023 was presented to the guests. The emotions were palpable during the viewing. Seeing again the influential figures of 48th North International, the five presidents of the boards of directors, explaining the purpose of the organization generated good memories among the guests. Under the sign of recognition, twelve special guests were greeted by the presentation of an honorary executive representing the 5 RCMs of Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Mr. Alain Thivierge testified to the extraordinary involvement of Mr. Guillaume Marquis, founding member, former Chairman, and Director for the past 25 years.

Ms. Claude Thibault, Director General, and International Commissioner from 2010 to 2016, highlighted the 10 years of seniority of Mr. Olivier Bilodeau, Logistics and Research Support Advisor.

48e Nord International has evolved with determination over the past 25 years:

“You know, exports to Abitibi-Témiscamingue are taking their place and we are one of the regions with the highest growth rate in Quebec. It is therefore essential to support and pursue this development since marketing and exporting protect us from economic fluctuations. I would also like to remind you that 48e Nord International is here to support you in your market development efforts, said with aplomb, addressing entrepreneurs.” – Mr. Éric Beaupré, Executive Vice-President and Director of the Board of Directors of 48e Nord International, since 2015.

This evening of celebrations, where the reunion was in the spotlight, ended on a most festive note. The 48e Nord International team would like to thank its regional, national, and international collaborators for their trust over the past few years.
